Robin S. Bon is Professor of Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery at the University of Leeds. His group uses chemical, molecular and structural biology approaches to study disease-relevant proteins, with a focus on cardiovascular ion channels. Following undergraduate studies in Chemistry in Utrecht and Amsterdam, Robin obtained his PhD (Chemistry, 2007) from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, where he worked on isocyanide-based multicomponent reactions with Prof. Romano Orrù. He then joined the group of Prof. Herbert Waldmann at the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology, Dortmund. Supported by an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship, he developed tools to modulate post-translational lipidation of Ras and Rab GTPases. Robin started his independent career at Leeds' School of Chemistry in 2009, before moving to the Leeds Institute of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Medicine (School of Medicine) in 2015. Robin is a scientific co-founder of the spinout company CalTIC GmbH, which focuses on the development of therapeutics targeting calcium channels.
