The goal of this study is to examine and discuss the baseline results of a Chagas disease awareness survey administered to residents of the Rio Grande Valley, Texas. The purpose is to assess the level of awareness of Chagas disease and ways to prevent its transmission to reduce the number of infected individuals. The paper aims to shed light on the magnitude of the burden of Chagas disease in Texas’ southern communities in order to inform educational campaigns.

The paper provides insights into the knowledge gaps and highlights the importance of raising awareness about Chagas disease and its prevention. The major takeaway is that there is a need for targeted education and public health campaigns to increase awareness and promote preventive measures against Chagas disease in border communities, such as Rio Grande Valley, Texas.
