Editorial overview: Protein folding and binding — With a little help from AI

Yana Bromberg received her PhD in Biomedical Informatics from Columbia University (NYC, USA). She then joined the State University of New Jersey, Rutgers (New Brunswick, NJ, USA) as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology. While at Rutgers she attained her tenure and was promoted to Full Professor. In 2023, she moved to Emory University (Atlanta, GA, USA) as a Full Professor joint between the Department of Biology and the Department of Computer Science at Emory University. Dr. Bromberg is a fellow of the Institute for Advanced Study at the Technical University of Munich, Germany and a Fellow and Director of the International Society for Computational Biology. The primary focus of her research is the concept of “molecular function” in biology, as described by genes/proteins, genomes, and metagenomes, which she explores with machine learning and other computational techniques.
