MWA Inaugurates Prof. Hartono as UNS Rector for the 2024-2029 Term

UNS — The Board of Trustees (Majelis Wali Amanat, or MWA) has officially inaugurated Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si. as the Rector of Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) for the 2024-2029 term. The inauguration took place during the MWA Plenary Session at the G.P.H. Haryo Mataram Auditorium, UNS, on Thursday (8/8/2024).

The ceremony was led by the Chairman of MWA UNS, Prof. Muliaman Darmansyah Hadad, Ph.D., who administered the oath-taking and inaugurated Prof. Hartono in front of MWA members and invited guests. “With gratitude to Allah SWT, the Almighty God, for His guidance and blessings, today, Thursday, August 8, 2024, I, the Chairman of MWA UNS, hereby officially inaugurate Prof. Hartono as the Rector of UNS for the 2024-2029 term. I trust that you will carry out your duties to the best of your ability with the responsibility bestowed upon you. May Allah SWT, the Almighty God, be with us,” Prof. Muliaman said during the inauguration.

On behalf of the entire UNS academic community, Prof. Muliaman congratulated Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si. on his new role as Rector of UNS for the 2024-2029 term. He expressed his best wishes for Prof. Hartono in fulfilling the mandate from the nation and society to contribute to educating the nation and improving societal welfare through education.

“Quoting the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, the Rector is the Ambassador of Merdeka Belajar, Kampus Merdeka. The Rector plays a crucial role in fostering student innovation and ensuring that universities produce intelligent and character-driven individuals,” Prof. Muliaman added.

Prof. Muliaman expressed hope that, under Prof. Dr. Hartono’s leadership over the next five years, UNS will pioneer Good University Governance and become a world-class university excelling in the Tri Dharma of Higher Education: teaching, research, and community service. He emphasized that Good University Governance includes values such as transparency, which upholds honesty in management; fairness, which serves as the foundation of UNS’s administration; accountability, which drives the responsible execution of programs; responsibility, ensuring UNS operates ethically; and collegiality, which emphasizes teamwork in addressing current challenges at UNS.

By embracing Good University Governance, UNS aims to foster innovations and world-class scientific works that support high-quality teaching. Such innovations and scientific contributions, when applied, will serve society and contribute to UNS’s endowment funds. Additionally, UNS aspires to produce graduates with noble character who can advance knowledge to meet the challenges of the times.

“On a personal note, and on behalf of the entire UNS community, I extend my gratitude to Dr. Chatarina Muliana, S.H., S.E., M.H., who, in addition to serving as the Inspector General of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, also acted as the Acting Rector of UNS until today’s inauguration of Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si. as Rector for the 2024-2029 term. I also thank Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho, S.H., M.Hum., who served as Rector from 2019-2024, and previous Rectors who have elevated UNS to its current high standing among Indonesian universities. To Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si., once again, I offer my congratulations. May you carry out your duties and responsibilities with excellence,” Prof. Muliaman stated.

During the inauguration, there was also the handover of the end-of-term memorandum from Dr. Chatarina Muliana, S.H., S.E., M.H. to the Chairman of MWA UNS, Prof. Muliaman Darmansyah Hadad, Ph.D., followed by the transfer of the memorandum to the new Rector for the 2024-2029 term.
