UNS Sociology Lecturer Passes Visiting Scholar Fellowship Program in Southeast Asian Studies

UNS— Dr. Yuyun Sunesti, G.D.Soc., M.A., a lecturer in the Sociology Study Program at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, has successfully passed the Visiting Scholar Fellowship Program in Southeast Asian Studies. The program, initiated by the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, in collaboration with the Canadian Southeast Asian Studies Initiative (ICESEA/CSEASI), aims to deepen understanding of Southeast Asian culture through research.

The program will run for three months, starting on July 1, 2024. Regarding teaching leave, when asked, Dr. Yuyun mentioned that arrangements are still being made.

“I am still arranging for permission,” the lecturer said, often referred to as Yunes, to uns.ac.id on Tuesday (2/4/2024).

Yunes also hopes to gain new learning and experiences in both academic and non-academic fields, such as cultural experiences in Saskatoon, Canada.

“I hope to fulfill my duties as a visiting scholar effectively, gain learning experiences at a top-world university, collaborate with professors and colleagues, and acquire new experiences in teaching and collaborative research. Additionally, I hope to experience Canadian culture, especially in Saskatoon,” he said.

He also hopes that through this program, doors for collaboration with UNS will open.

“I hope this will open doors for ongoing cooperation with UNS and that I can share the experiences gained from this program with colleagues and students at UNS,” Yunes concluded. HUMAS UNS
