UNS – The Radiology Residency Program of the Faculty of Medicine (FK) at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta has undergone accreditation by the Independent Accreditation Institute (LAM) for Health Higher Education Institutions (PTKes). The process took place over four days, from Monday (1/4/2024) to Thursday (4/4/2024). This is a form of external quality assurance for a program in carrying out the education process.
This step was taken as a manifestation of the vision to become an internationally reputable radiology specialist medical education institution with expertise in oncological radiological imaging and community orientation. LAM-PTKes assigned two assessors to the UNS FK Radiology Residency Program. They were Dr. Lies Mardiyana, Sp.Rad(K)., PRP, and Dr. Vonny Nouva Tubagus, Sp.Rad(K)., RI.
On the first day of assessment, the two assessors visited the main teaching hospitals, namely Dr. Moewardi Hospital (RSDM) and UNS Hospital. On this occasion, the assessors directly observed the educational facilities and infrastructure available at both hospitals.
According to Dr. Lies, the facilities available at both hospitals are very comprehensive. There are various sophisticated tools that support the learning process. Moreover, there are numerous cases that can enhance the students’ knowledge.
On the second day of the assessment, the UNS Leadership, FK UNS Deanery, and UNS Midwifery Department Leadership welcomed the two assessors in person. Present at the meeting were the UNS Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S; the Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K); vice deans at FK UNS; and the Head of Radiology Department FK UNS, Dr. Rachmi Fauziah Rahayu, dr., Sp.Rad(K). Their meeting took place in the Meeting Room of the dr. Prakosa UNS Building.
Prof. Yunus, in his remarks, stated that UNS is committed to self-development and quality improvement. UNS leadership is committed to advancing the quality of education. The change in status to a State Legal Entity University (PTNBH) has led to improvements at UNS. One of them is advancing the quality of existing study programs.
“Alhamdulillah, after becoming a PTNBH, UNS’s development continues to improve in quality. Referring to our ranking, we are ranked seventh nationally,” Prof. Yunus said.
After being received by university leaders, the two assessors, along with faculty and program leaders, proceeded to the Soetjipto Building Aula at FK UNS to undergo the field assessment process. The Dean of FK UNS, Prof. Dr. Reviono, dr., Sp.P(K) hoped that this activity would run smoothly and produce beneficial results for everyone. He hoped that during this occasion, they could receive suggestions and input from the two assessors.
“We, FK UNS, routinely undergo field assessments, which this time are conducted by external parties as a manifestation of the quality assurance of our study program, and now it is indeed time for us to undergo an audit from LAM-PTKes,” Prof. Reviono said.
The representative assessor, Dr. Lies Mardiyana, in her address, hoped that all documents and field assessment results would correspond to what had been previously reported.
“The purpose of our visit here is to see, capture, and adjust what has been uploaded by the Radiology Program to LAM-PTKes. We hope we can all work together so that this assessment activity can run smoothly and produce the expected results together,” she said.
After listening to presentations from the Dean of FK UNS and the Program Head, also conducting Q&A sessions, the two assessors interviewed faculty members about the sufficiency of teaching staff and the curriculum provided to students. Additionally, interviews were conducted with student representatives about academic and non-academic services. Interviews were also conducted with alumni users of the UNS FK Radiology Program.
The closing of this field assessment activity took place on the third day, marked by the signing and handing over of the minutes of the meeting from the assessors to the Head of the UNS FK Radiology Residency Program, followed by a group photo. Humas UNS
