Femoral Hernia—A New Surgical Technique for Open Repair

Femoral hernia can be repaired in several ways. It is very prone to strangulation of bowel/omentum which requires access to abdominal cavity and that is cumbersome with conventional techniques. In the modern era, laparoscopy is a good adjunct to assess the bowel and if needed resected, but which requires a higher skill and general anesthesia considering the fact that majority of these patients are elderly with lots of co-morbidities.

We describe a new method of single skin incision technique which can be performed at ease by any general surgeon with loco-regional anesthesia.
