Abstract #1601277: Hydroxychloroquine Improves Pregnancy Outcome in TPO-Positive Euthyroid Pregnant Females: Case Series

Hashimoto thyroiditis is an autoimmune thyroid disease, and there are well-known links between recurrent abortion, subfertility, and anti–TPO-positive antibodies even in euthyroid women. To date, there is no drug that is proven to reduce this effect including thyroxin and steroids. Hydroxychloroquine acts as a disease-modifying antirheumatic drug for the treatment of several autoimmune diseases, such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and other autoimmune diseases. The purpose of this narrative is to evaluate whether hydroxychloroquine is effective in improving pregnancy outcome among females with documented recurrent pregnancy loss after exclusion of other causes of recurrent abortion.
