ADDENDUM

Addendum to previously published editorial, titled, ‘Looking Ahead: Assured of a Vibrant Indian Association of Palliative Care to Lead the World of Palliative Care’ by Dr. Stanley Cecil Macaden, published in Indian Journal of Palliative Care, with DOI: 10.25259/IJPC_149_2022, on 11th Jan 2023.[1]

It has been brought to the notice of the journal, that during the revisions, by mistake, the author omitted an introductory acknowledgment paragraph. The same is, thus, added hereby.

This article is inspired by the recent review article, Palliative Care in India: Past, present and future, in the Indian Journal of Surgical Oncology, published online on 9 June 2022.[2] The excellent research effort by Dr. Naveen Salins and the coauthor champions of Indian Palliative Care is most laudable. Equally laudable is the fervour of many concerned, to voice the accomplishments of their teams with a sense of pride and possessiveness. It fosters ownership of what we do and a sense of belonging along with those we are privileged to care for. These are our strengths, based on faith and family, which will equip us to meet the challenges of the future. Evidence-based research must also promote and translate into appropriate best practices. Integration of palliative care into all healthcare is urgently needed for the best outcomes. Few suggestions are made for consideration and implementation.
