Reflections on the Future of Nursing Research
Over the past year, the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) engaged the
nursing community in a comprehensive manner as part of its strategic planning process
(
). The process involved convening a working group comprised of over 20 researchers
from diverse areas of science, geography, and institutions, as well as public presentations
and discussions at the National Advisory Council for Nursing Research. NINR solicited,
received, and considered public comments received by email and meetings with groups
and individuals. The work to date consists of the NINR strategic framework guiding
principles and research “lenses” that will guide the training and research initiatives
NINR will support.
