Remember me
First of all, I am pleased to have opportunity to discuss the topic of my recently published article.
Our main aim was to examine the clinical characteristics of patients with acute ischemic stroke which were previously vaccinated against Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) and compare those results to the previous studies in order to see if there are any differences that indicate causal relationship.1Mungmunpuntipantip R Wiwanitkit V. Correspondence on “Patients with acute ischemic stroke previously vaccinated against COVID-19”.J. Stroke Cerebrovasc. Dis. 2022;
Those data could be very useful for further research about adverse events of COVID-19 vaccines.Yet, we found no significant differences in clinical characteristics of stroke in vaccinated compared to unvaccinated patients. All the aspects we have studied here (no differences in clinical characteristics of stroke; almost half of our patients had a stroke within two months or more after revaccination and almost all of them had conventional risk factors for stroke) indicate that there is no connection between vaccination and stroke.1Mungmunpuntipantip R Wiwanitkit V. Correspondence on “Patients with acute ischemic stroke previously vaccinated against COVID-19”.J. Stroke Cerebrovasc. Dis. 2022;
Nevertheless, we agree with the statement that our study lacks the data on the vaccine recipients' pre-vaccination thrombo-hemostatic condition, and that could be one of the limitation of our study.2Stamenković M Radmilo L Jovićević M et al.Clinical characteristics of patients with acute ischemic stroke previously vaccinated against COVID-19.,3Mungmunpuntipantip R Wiwanitkit V. Thrombosis after adenovirus-vectored COVID-19 vaccination: a concern onunderlying illness.Also, it is a good idea for further research.
