A Mono-Carbonyl Analog of Curcumin Induces Apoptosis in Drug-Resistant EGFR-Mutant Lung Cancer Through the Generation of Oxidative Stress and Mitochondrial Dysfunction [Expression of Concern]

Dai X, Zhang J, Guo G, et al. Cancer Manag Res. 2018;10:3069–3082.

We, the Publisher and Editor of Cancer Management and Research, are issuing an Expression of Concern for the published article.

Following publication of the article, the authors contacted the journal requesting a correction to Figure 4A of their article, as they had identified that due to a file management error, the electron microscopy images had been mislabelled. The Journal and Publisher confirm that there are overlaps in the representative electron microscopy images for DMSO and WZ35+NAC in Figure 4A of the article.

Unfortunately, due to the length of time since publication and the absence of the original data for the experiment, the Journal is unable to correct the scientific record. The Journal confirms there are no other integrity concerns with the article and confirms that the induction of ER stress as shown by the electron microscopy images in Figure 4A has been corroborated by other independent experiments included in the article.

The journal wishes to notify readers of this and provide reasons why no further action will be taken at this time. However, we advise readers to interpret the information presented in Figure 4A with due caution.

The authors agree to the publication of this Expression of Concern.
