Tamponade physiology related to a large pleural effusion

A 30-year-old male with history of relapsed, refractory Hodgkin lymphoma presented to hospital with dyspnea and lower extremity edema. Vital signs demonstrated temperature of 97.8°F, blood pressure 90/56 mmHg, pulse 108 beats/min, and oxygen saturation 86 % on room air. Physical exam revealed decreased breath sounds on right, distended neck veins, and bilateral lower extremity pitting edema.
