Onto New Heights

Dear colleagues,

It is with great humility that I assume the role of Editor-in-Chief for JAAOS Global Research & Reviews. It is a great honor, privilege, and responsibility to work closely with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and Peter S. Rose, MD, FAAOS, Editor-in-Chief for JAAOS, to uphold the rich tradition of providing well-balanced, evidence-based research aimed to improving education and patient care. As I embark on this journey, I wanted to share my vision of the journal where it is today and where it will go tomorrow.

First, it is without saying that enormous gratitude goes to Jeffrey S. Fischgrund, MD, FAAOS, our Editor-in-Chief Emeritus, without whom this would not be possible. It was his transformative vision that led to the expansion of the JAAOS publication portfolio over the years. Throughout the years, his leadership has established a tremendous standard that I will work hard to maintain. Year over year, the quality of submissions and publications have continually increased and today, JAAOS Global Research & Reviews is a premier-indexed open access orthopaedic journal delivering state-of-the-art articles on issues that affect patient care and education to orthopaedic surgeons worldwide. I look forward to continuing to carry out Dr. Fischgrund's vision.

During my tenure, I hope to work closely with the leadership of the AAOS, JAAOS, and other organizations to guide this journal toward greater visibility and impact. To achieve this, I call on friends and colleagues to continue to submit their excellent work to our journals and help identify areas of need to better service our readers. I believe that our journal should be an open platform for the exchange of ideas, techniques, and results aimed at making us better surgeons, teachers, and physicians. It is also my goal to engage and open this dialogue to our colleagues from around the world. The AAOS and its journals recognize that orthopaedic care can vary between regions and be affected by differences in resources and traditions. We look forward to learning from all of you.

Finally, I commit to being open minded about the delivery of information to better serve the needs of our readers. How we consume information today is vastly different than it has been in the past. Our journal needs to continually evolve while maintaining its core values. I look forward to working with our authors, reviewers, and Deputy Editors to continue to develop insightful and provocative content to serve our missions.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any concerns or suggestions.

At your service

Gwo-Chin Lee, MD, FAAOS.
