Numerous unsuccessful surgeries for empty nose syndrome in a patient with somatic symptom disorder

Studies have demonstrated associations between empty nose syndrome (ENS) and psychiatric disorders like depression, anxiety, somatic symptom disorder (SSD), and potentially obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) [1,2]. This case report describes a patient diagnosed with ENS by multiple otolaryngologists, who underwent numerous unsuccessful surgeries for ENS, but was later diagnosed with SSD by a psychiatrist.
